Aftercare
After your pet has passed away.
After your pet has been euthanized, there are various options.
Buried
It is possible to bury your animal at a pet cemetery. It is not permitted in every municipality to bury your animal in your garden yourself.
In general, it is permitted to bury your pet in your own garden, provided the following conditions are met:
Your pet must not have died from a contagious disease.
The grave must be at least 75 cm deep.
Your pet may weigh a maximum of 10 kg, unless the municipal ordinance states otherwise.
Your pet must be buried in biodegradable materials.
Check with your municipality what the rules are for burying in a garden in your municipality.
Cremation
It is also possible to have your pet cremated. I have had good experiences with Diercrematorium Zaanstreek, but other crematoria are also an option. You can bring your pet to the crematorium yourself, the crematorium can pick up your pet from your home, or I can take your pet to the crematorium for you. There are additional costs associated with transport by me or the crematorium.
Individual cremation: Your pet is cremated separately, and you receive the ashes in a scattering tube or tin.
Joint cremation: your pet is cremated together with other pets. In this case, it is not possible to receive the ashes back. The ashes are then scattered over the North Sea in a respectful manner.
Water Cremation Water cremation is also known as resomation. This is because the contents are not burned by fire, but dissolved in water using liquid potassium hydroxide and 95% warm water.
Destruction
If you do not wish to have your pet buried or cremated, destruction is also an option. This also takes place when you hand over your deceased pet to your municipality. To get an idea of what the destruction of your pet entails, I refer you to www.afscheidvaneenhuisdier.nl
It is nice to think about your wishes prior to the appointment so that I can assist you with them, if desired.
